Visited Morwyn at the graveyard The Silent Rest and learned that Roderic is missing

Talked to Greta about her father Roderic, learned that he was invited to a ball at the Honeybrew family right before he disappeared

Searched through Roderic's apartment, found his brewery journal and moldy fruit

Enjoyed the sauna at Moonlit Revelry and had dinner there, Adaki heated up some chilled Fire and Ice Chili and Darryn indulged himself with Steam-Cooked Fish with Citrus Herb Sauce

10 Reading 112

Had tea at Fiona's place, talked about the Honeybrew ball that she didn't attend. She agreed to host a town festival if the heroes arrange one. Also viewed the Timberwind family tree and discovered some people of interest, namely Cheerful Charlie and Kara the human trafficking person from the Wagon train

Visited Wilhelmina to ask about her missing daughter Kara, that left for work over a year ago and hasn't visited since. They also searched through Kara's quite empty teenage-room and found Letters to Kara

Ordered flyers and invitation cards for the festival, will be done tomorrow

Adaki started setting up the catering situation for the town festival, contacting all inns, taverns and food vendors

Darryn started building a stage (with a trap door) in the town square, also tinkers up microphone and speakers

Darryn's and Adaki's story

Darryn and Adaki met with Fiona Gemshine Timberwind - the halfling matriarch of the second most important noble family in town. Her mansion is right outside the gates to the palace.

Fiona showed us the Timberwind family tree, and several people we knew were on it!
Cheerful Charlie, our poor dearly-departed jerk - err, party member.
Kara Meadowbrook - a cousin of Charlie, who it turns out she was one of the guards on the ostrich train that kicked our asses!

We picked Fiona’s brain about the ruling Halfling family, and she didn’t know much, she’s affected by the veil, time has been slipping past her, and she’s not paying much attention. She DID say she was invited to a ‘Gala event’ at the palace months ago, and declined to attend, and hasn’t seen the ruling family since.

She hasn’t noticed any increased traffic coming or going either, the Palace seems quiet and isolated.

Fiona also mentioned the recent disappearance of Rodrick Stoutbarrel, a wealthy halfling shopkeeper. He’s related to Greta Hearthstone, the dwarven innkeper of Hearthstone Haven, where we stay now for free.

Darryn was musing about the situation we find ourselves in. The strength of the veil is that anyone doing something new or unusual looks suspicious, immediately. We can't just walk up to the palace to ask them how things are going, because they will see us coming a mile away.

However, a weakness of the veil is how compliant everybody within it becomes. We are able to manipulate society through suggestion in order to arrange things favourably!

As such, we decided to throw a spanner into the works of the hidden town-masters. By creating an event that challenges them to act, a window of opportunity might just open up for us to gain some new information or even some new allies.

A two-class society requires a two-class approach. Fiona will host a grand dinner party for the town's elite class, with an invitation extended to the Honeybrews from the Palace. What kind of response will the invitation invoke from whoever is in charge, here?

For the rest of the town, we will create a festival. Anonymously advertised through printed flyers, we will all have to do our part to create something sufficiently large so as not to point to any one of us as being the instigator.

After meeting with Fiona, we decided to investigate the disappearance of Roderic and Kara. We were able to search where they each lived, and found out the following:

Roderic (the wealthy shop keeeper) was invited to the Gala, which was in the 1st month of the year, six months ago. Signs are he disappeared during the gala, without any signs of packing or travel preparation.
We think the Gala was when the Drow took over, and Roderic was either enslaved or killed then.

Kara (the cousin and guard) disappeared several months before the Gala. When searching her place, we found letters from her employers hidden (and probably accidentally left behind), basically saying ‘you’ve done such a good job training the ostriches that you’re getting promoted’, then another one saying ‘we’re beginning to doubt your devotion to the project’.

We think she’s a bit of a wild card - working for the enemy, but possibly able to be turned to our side when we attack.

We then went on to make plans for the events. Next session everyone else can volunteer for their jobs and tasks for the event.
